This guide is intended to help researchers locate cases, legislation, resources and databases on Indigenous Peoples and the Law.

About

Article 5 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples states:

"Indigenous peoples have the right to maintain and strengthen their distinct political, legal, economic, social and cultural institutions, while retaining their right to participate fully, if they so choose, in the political, economic, social and cultural life of the State."

The economic development portion of this has been taken up by legal scholars in Canada to analyze the routes this economic development can take, among other issues.
