Resource Sharing and Interlibrary Loan services enhance the resources of Toronto Metropolitan University Libraries by making material available from other libraries and organizations. Current students, faculty, and staff are eligible to request materials free of charge.
Searching Omni
- Sign in to Omni and search for the item you need.
- Ensure the search bar is set to TMU Libraries + Omni Libraries in the drop down menu.
- Locate the item you’d like and select Get it from another library.
Requesting through Omni
- Complete the form that comes up under Get it from another library.
- Select your Preferred Pickup University. TMU Libraries is the default but you are welcome to select whichever Omni university is closest to you.
- Select your preferred pick up desk. If you’ve selected TMU Libraries as a pickup university, the only option will be Main Library. If you’ve selected another Omni partner, select from their list of pickup desks. Note that TMU Main Library remains as a pickup location in case the preferred university is not available.
If the requested item is not available from an Omni partner, staff will search for another library in Canada or internationally to supply the item.
Requesting Outside of Omni
If you are unable to find the item you need in Omni, you can use the blank request form below to request an item from another library. We’ll do the rest!

Pickup and Return
- Wait for an email letting you know that the item is ready. Electronic material will be delivered to your TMU email address.
- The loan period for items within the Omni network is 120 days and can be renewed through your TMU library account. Items borrowed from other libraries may have shorter loan periods and may restrict renewals.
- Return the item to TMU Libraries. Items from Omni partner libraries can be returned to any partner across the province. Note that University of Toronto is not a member of Omni and items should not be returned there.
