Benefits of incorporating EDIA into Research

Incorporating EDI approaches expands the applicability of research findings and new technologies across a wider segment of society, helps to reveal implicit assumptions related to research that may otherwise go unnoticed and unchallenged, and supports research outcomes that fairly benefit communities most impacted by the research. On the other hand, not incorporating EDI approaches lowers the quality of research, overlooks implicit assumptions related to research, influences decision makers through findings that can lead to the exclusion of and/or harm for certain groups, and generates harmful outcomes for some groups, whether economic, social or health-related.
