Resetting Cookies for TMU Library

The following instructions describe how to reset or refresh the cookies only for the TMU Libraries website and related cookies without affecting other sites. While your cookies will reappear, they will be refreshed. You may be prompted to log in again when accessing a resource

Instructions for Using a Browser Extension or Add-on to Delete Cookies

If you find yourself coming across proxy errors and bad request errors too often while researching, then you may want to use a browser extension or add-on to handle the cookies. You will save so much time by using the extension and clicking a button, versus manually going through the settings for a webpage and deleting cookies. If you do not want to add an extension, simply scroll down to find the instructions on how to manually reset your cookies.

Our recommendations for Cookie remover extensions for browsers are below:

Chrome: Cookie Remover

Mozilla Firefox: Cookie Remover

We have not tested enough with Microsoft Edge or Safari to recommend a cookie remover extension, but there a couple of options on the Microsoft Add-Ons website - not sure about Safari. Our recommendation is to always use Chrome anyways as TMU uses Google products and most databases play well with Chrome.

Instructions on how to Manually Reset Cookies on Chrome

Step 1: Click on the little icon beside the TMU website in web address bar.
Icon beside the web address for the library is circled in blue, the icon represents the menu "View Site Information".

Step 2: Click on Cookies Site and Data.

Words cookies and site data circled on the site information menu.

Step 3: Click on Manage on-device site data.

Step 4: A new menu will appear and you can click on the little trash icons to delete the cookies.

On-device site data menu showing a list of tracking cookies and there is a blue circle around the trash icons that can be clicked to delete the cookie.

Step 6: Refresh the webpage and now your cookies will be reset. The resource or website you are trying to access should work now.
