Overleaf introduction

Overleaf is an online LaTeX and Rich Text collaborative writing and publishing tool that makes the whole process of academic writing, editing and publishing much quicker and easier.

Access to Overleaf: TMU Subscription Ending June 30, 2025

Since 2022, TMU Libraries has been providing Overleaf Professional features for all students, faculty and staff who would like to use a collaborative, online LaTeX editor for their projects. TMU Libraries has made the difficult decision to not renew our agreement with Overleaf for 2025/26 due to budgetary constraints.

Our current agreement with Overleaf will expire on June 30, 2025.

Beginning July 1, 2025, you will no longer have access to the premium features that were being provided. Users attempting to log in with SSO will see a message indicating that "your institution does not support SSO login”. For users who have not yet set an Overleaf-specific password, you will still be able to access your account by setting one. You can do this by requesting a password reset link. This can be done either by submitting your email address through this form, or by clicking the "forgot password" link on the standard email/password login prompt.

We appreciate this may be unwelcome news, but want to reassure you that you will not lose access to any projects you own. Free accounts have access to all projects created using the subscription, so your projects will always be available on your account.

You can find out more about the features included an Overleaf Free Account and pricing of other tiers at: https://www.overleaf.com/user/subscription/plans. For more information about transitioning to a Free Account, please consult this page.
