Accessing Court Records, Dockets, and Transcripts

Court of King's Bench

  • Court of King's Bench Civil Search Portal -  For paper records, you must request the Court to do a search for you. 
    • Search by party name will produce a list of all the actions for or against the named person or company. This is sometimes referred to as a "litigation search".
    • The search fee is $10 to search for actions commenced by a party and $10 to search for actions against a party. Parties can be persons or companies.
    • If you know the action or court file number, or are searching for a specific action or court file (example Jane Doe vs. John Doe), choose the "Search by Action or Court File Number" option. The fee is $10.00 and will include a list of all documents filed.

  • Court Services Online (free to search, but $6.00 fee for accessing records.  Full text is available for Supreme Court files.)

Regarding in person record viewing:

Once you've located the correct registry, you may contact them with your document request query via two methods:

a. Online, self-directed request. Order documents from the court registry--when available. 

b. Mediated request. Contact the Courthouse Registry either in person, by phone, or by email for further instructions on viewing the file.

Some Court records with restricted access may require special application to the court, and are subject to judicial approval

    • Available by monthly subscription.
    • Online access to civil, criminal and penal judicial records from Quebec courthouses and municipal courts.
    • Plumitifs are coded only in French.
