Using Toronto's Libraries for Your Research

The Gerstein Science Information Centre is the largest science and health science academic library in Canada. It is a content contributor to the Medical Heritage Library, a digital curation collaborative among some of the world’s leading medical libraries.

This Chemistry-focused library contains 24,500 volumes including bound journals.

The collection of this library relates to environmental studies, biology, geography and geology.

This library contains 38,256 volumes (April 2005). Covers physics, meteorology and geophysics. Good collection of journals in these subject areas. Books for advanced undergraduate and graduate courses; books not found in the Physics Library are usually found in the Gerstein Science Information Centre. Contains theses.

The collection consists of approximately 25,000 volumes and is primarily devoted to astronomy and astrophysics material. It does include physics, mathematics and computer science materials of interest to astronomers and astrophysicists.

This library contains 30,000 volumes. Collection covers dentistry and oral health. A limited number of biological sciences books are also available on site.

Over 35,000 volumes. For contemporary architecture and landscape architecture material, this is the major collection although Robarts, Noranda Earth Sciences, Engineering, and Gerstein libraries also have relevant related collections.

At about 30,000 volumes, this is the largest criminology collection in Canada. The focus of the collection is on criminology, criminal justice, deviant behaviour, corrections and penology, and policing and law enforcement.

The Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library constitutes one of the largest repositories of publicly accessible rare books and manuscripts in Canada. The collection includes manuscripts of British, European and Canadian literature, philosophy, the history of science and medicine, Canadiana, Hebraica and Judaica, and the history and art of the book. The holdings of books and other printed material are organized in over one hundred special author or subject collections, focusing on fields as diverse as AIDS, Aristotle, Birdsall Bindings, Darwin, Aldous Huxley, Incunabula, Libretti, Petlice, Printed Ephemera and the Spanish Civil War.

This library contains Approximately 46,000 volumes. The Library's research collections focus on the history of the book with particular strength in nineteenth century book design and printing.
