Using Toronto's Libraries for Your Research

What do they have for TMU Students?

The Edward P. Taylor Library & Archives is open to all levels of researchers who are interested in art, art history, design, film, photography, and architecture.

This library is a leading Canadian centre for research in art. The library collections provide a research context for the Art Gallery of Ontario’s collection, exhibitions, and public programs. In addition to supporting general art research, the library’s 380,000+ volumes include rare books and artists’ books and multiples. The archives and special collections include almost 200 archival collections documenting major Canadian artists, art dealers and collectors, artist-run galleries, and records from the AGO’s history.

Internet Archive

A growing collection of digitized Art Gallery of Ontario exhibition catalogues and other publications is available through the Internet Archive. Additional digital resources are available to staff and onsite visitors: please contact library.archives@ago.ca for more information.

Drawing Study Centre

In addition to the Edward P. Taylor Library & Archives, the Art Gallery of Ontario houses the Marvin Gelber Print and Drawing Study Centre, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the study of prints, drawings and photographs. Located on the main level of the AGO, the Study Centre houses a collection of over 90,000 works on paper dating from the 13th century to the present day. Read more about the AGO's prints and drawings collection.
