Community News Sources

Community news is a rich source of information that represents voices not always or frequently represented in larger news outlets.

The Wikipedia page for Multicultural media in Canada has a robust list of multilingual radio stations, newspapers and television stations, with links to the websites. It can be challenging to track down radio or television spots that have already run, but many websites will have archives of popular regularly scheduled programs. Sometimes, these will be made available as podcasts, or in the case of television, there will be a YouTube channel.

It can also be interesting to locate the social media accounts for these entities (usually available on the website) to gauge how a particular story was received by the community. One can also locate the names of the journalists or contributors to the news source.
