Critical thinking about data sources
- Health data can be restricted to protect the confidentiality of respondents
- Not all data sources are created with the same measures
- Data methods and collection vary depending on who is collecting the data
- Municipal, provincial or federal government, medical or health authorities collect data separately
- Data from different countries often must be harmonized by international agencies
- Some nations have a greater capacity to collect data
- Consider if data is being excluded or used to convey a specific story
