There are common elements within an academic or scholarly article. Knowing the structure of an article helps the reader quickly identify them, and allows you to read them in a more strategic manner. Some sections will have more important information to focus on than others. For example, the Discussion and Conclusion section are arguably the most important part, but they are all the way at the end.
