Online Sources for Broadcast Journalism

To locate clips of broadcast journalism online, try the following strategies:

  • Google: Using Google Advanced Search, you can limit your search results to a particular online news source. Enter the URL of the news source you would like to search under "site or domain" (for example, cbc.ca or globalnews.ca). Or from google.ca, include "site:" followed by the URL in your search. For example, you could search: "toronto metropolitan university" site:cbc.ca
  • YouTube: See the top news stories on YouTube from the Explore News section. When searching for news clips on YouTube, try searching a topic along with the broadcaster, for example "CTV," to sort out non-broadcast news content.
  • Other sources: Many broadcasters maintain clip archives, such as the CBC and NPR. For clips related to the United States government and pubic affairs, the C-SPAN video library has over thirty years worth of coverage available online.
