Company Filings and Annual Reports
Publicly traded companies are required by government regulators to provide filings and Annual reports. These will contain information on but not limited to finances, market segmentation, subsidiaries, strategies and performance. You can generally find annual reports on a companies website often located in a investor relations section.
- EDGAR This link opens in a new windowEDGAR, the Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval system, performs automated collection, validation, indexing, acceptance, and forwarding of submissions by companies and others who are required by law to file forms with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
All companies, foreign and domestic, are required to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. Anyone can access and download this information for free. Mergent Online is a subscription-based service offering over 10,000 U.S. public companies and 17,000 non-U.S. public companies. What began in 1997 as Company Data Direct — a subscription service of 10,000 companies on the NYSE, AMEX and Nasdaq exchanges, has expanded into a “suite” of global business and financial information products carefully designed to offer the respected investment research tools that you have come to rely on from Mergent.
In Mergent Online, the third tab “Mergent Private Company Search” provides access to Dun and Bradstreet Million Dollar Directory. This is also available through Advanced Search. Adding to a collection of more than 300,000 global reports covering international and domestic companies for the last 20 years, Mergent Archives will deliver an additional 150,000 to 200,000 documents spanning nearly a century. It includes a simple, on-line screening tool allowing researchers to search across reports by company name, year, city and state, and document type.It also offers fully searchable text in every document. The database is continuously updated.
