The outstanding news coverage from over 17,000 news, business, and legal sources includes deep backfiles and up-to-the-minute stories from national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources.
Nexis Uni supports campus-wide, IP-authenticated access. For personalization, students and faculty may request an ID and password to create folders, store search results, and set up email alerts for automated searches. -
GlobalData Explorer This link opens in a new windowGlobalData Explorer is a comprehensive database including cross-sector and market data such as sector activity indicators and global ads, expert analysis, thematic research, business fundamentals, and alternative data such as tenders, job analytics. GD Explorer meets the needs of multiple disciplines and departments with cross sector coverage.

Statista This link opens in a new windowStatista.com is one of the first statistics portals to integrate over 60,000 diverse topics of data and facts from over 10,000 sources onto a single professional platform. Categorized into over 20 market sectors, Statista provides business customers, researchers, and the academic community with direct access to relevant quantitative facts on media, finance, politics, and many more areas of interest. Sources of information include market researchers, trade publications, scientific journals, and government databases. Toronto Metropolitan has access to Global Consumer Survey (GCS) via Statista.

FactivaProvides company descriptions with several year of financial data and ratios. In addition Factiva provides news items related to the company. To search for a company select company from the Companies/ Markets tab located at the top of the screen.

ProQuest One Business This link opens in a new windowProquest One Business provides access to reports on many different companies. You will also find news, trade and scholarly journal articles written about different companies and industries.

Business Source Complete This link opens in a new windowThis database provides full-text coverage of top business, management and economics journals and periodicals. These valuable publications cover topics such as accounting, banking, finance, international business, marketing, sales and more.
Private Company Information Databases
Private companies are not required to disclose financial data and business strategies in the way that public companies are required to. This can make finding data on private companies difficult. There are a few databases that may provide some information.

Nexis Uni This link opens in a new windowNexis Uni provides profiles and news on private companies. There are two ways to research companies.
To research a company using Nexis Dossier+ which presents company, news, and legal information from different sources in an interactive dashboard, select 'Find a Company' under the search box > enter the company name > click 'Search'.
For additional company information from specific sources, click 'Companies' from the main menu of the Nexis Uni homepage and type a company name into the search bar. This will search different content types such as industry analyst reports, SEC filings, and mergers and acquisitions. -

Publicly Available Resources
- Multinational Enterprise (MNE) Information Platform
The Multinational Enterprise Information Platform is a joint initiative of OECD and UNSD to provide an understanding of the structure of MNEs and related material. Published as a dashboard, it comprises two core registers and a media monitor:- The Global Register (xlsx): Covering the structure of the 500 largest MNEs by providing information on the MNE’s head, their subsidiaries, their location and their ownership structure when available.
- The Digital Register (xlsx): Covering the web presence of MNEs around the world by providing a list of connected websites and their relative importance determined by the number of visitors and the importance of links to their website (page rank).
- The Media Monitor: Covering media articles relating to the largest 500 MNEs for 2022 and 2023. The aim of this data is to provide indications of significant events for each given company, such as mergers, acquisitions, restructuring and investment.
