What Is ORCID?

ORCID stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID. The organization is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Directors, which includes individuals, research and scholarly organizations, data repositories and libraries, publishers, patent offices, service providers, and more.

What Is An ORCID iD?

An ORCID iD is a unique identifier, controlled by researchers, that enables them to distinguish themselves (disambiguate their name) and their research activity. It stays with researchers even if they change institutions, subject areas, countries or even names.
